There's just so much to do here. We're never bored, even when we're doing nothing but watching the sea. Collioure is a gem. Other villages have their charms but not one combines the vibrancy, the culture, the history, the architecture, the gastronomy, the colour, the beauty, the excitement, and the tranquillity that you will find in Collioure. That’s why we decided to buy a studio here. And when we stepped inside this particular studio we knew we had to have it. When you see it you’ll understand.
Whilst researching our books we really fell in love with the whole area where the Pyrenees come down to the Mediterranean. There aren't many places you can eat breakfast by the sea, swim and then get up into the high mountains to hike or even ski the same day. But you can do that from Collioure and that's one of the reasons we decided to buy a studio in the village.
We wrote the first edition of the Rough Guide to the Pyrenees, Berlitz Discover Pyrenees, and a walking guide called Landscapes Of The Pyrenees in which we featured a walk from Collioure to Notre Dame de Consolation, Tour Madeloc and Banyuls-sur-Mer (highly recommended). And a few other books as well.
